IPPT -International Pose partage Troquet-

Maxou

Hi everybody,

I've noticed that a few Pixies are sharing foreign experiences, sometimes talking english (Ouioui, Sendman, Zaijin…), or even natives (Tones, Jill…). So for those who used to speak english and miss it, those who want to keep on practicing or just the average curious Pixie, I thought an english part of the Troquet would be nice. So here it is : to share, explain, correct and just talk about your country or experiences abroad, or anything else you have in mind !

Cheers.

Why not,
especially that I leave 1 month to United States this summer, so a little practicing will not be bad for me ;)

What a fu…ing good idea, Maxou ! In August, I'll be in Chicago, a fu…ing great city ! 8-)

EloahnKAE

Well I haven't spoken english for years, so It would be nice if I practice a bit

Maxou

Great, I'm glad that you guys are in. I hope we'll bring a lot of Pixies together !

Naturali

Honnêtement je comprend tout très bien mais j'aurai beaucoup de mal à faire de vraies phrases dans un bon anglais

I unterstand all what you say but I am no-good to speak english. Même cette phrase me semble mauvaise :P

But it's a VERY GOOD IDEA
try continue writing in english this way and we will all make some progress
If we're only French people speaking English, how could you tell there aren't mistakes in our sentences ?
To make progress, we'll need all of this to be corrected, don't we ;) ?

I agree with you. Where is Bryan ? …euh Tone ?

Meuble

Nope Flambi, in fact, "this" here stands for everything we wrote (and are going to write in the future). If I wanted to refer only to "our sentences", I would have written "we'll need those to be corrected", I think ! ;)
19/04/2012 à 14:44

Naturali

Le pire c'est que je comprends tout mais que je ne saurais jamais faire ce genre de phrases.
19/04/2012 à 16:55

Onikenji

Good,

I'll really like speaking english but i'm not very gifted.
A little like Naturali, i understand all what you said but it's hard for me to write in english…

So, don'tdesitate to correct me ;)

Jill

Heya all Pixies !

That's a great idea aye ! , living in France makes me forget my mother-tongue language sometimes, yes shame on me… I assure you, I won't write or speack in scottish gaelic ! , 'cause that's something else, even I have a hard time understanding my people when I travel to Scotland :p

And also, this topic could be usefull if one day you buy gear that has only english instructions (ya never know ^^), you can come here and ask if you don't understand something :) we'll be glad to help you ;)

Cheerio all, I'm off to bed, see ya !

OK, Furniture you're right ;)

HAHA, love it !:-y
For Onikenji and Naturali, I think the most important is just to try. We're not going to be assessed here. And I'm not sure if Tones will feel like checking each and every post to correct us…
20/04/2012 à 08:23

Onikenji

No problem for me, i'll try ! :-y

And thank for your help :)
20/04/2012 à 11:34

Naturali

Me too. I'll try to tell with you in this topic.
20/04/2012 à 13:21

Onikenji

Yes i agree !

In fact, it's not because your are French that you not speaking very well English.

( I think my sentence is wrong… :| )

Hey guys,

I also forgot a lot of my english an d will probably make many mistakes, but I'm enthousiastic to try sometimes. I will be glad to be corrected by you, Tones, Jill, and all who speak and write better than me (it's not difficult !   :P :*) )

And, by the way, I looove Meuble's english pen name… ("Furniture" LOL)  :-w
20/04/2012 à 13:36

Onikenji

Is it a "hall of fame" ? :P
20/04/2012 à 13:39

Meuble

It's not the first time I'm being called "Furniture", even I use it sometimes, kinda like it ;) !
20/04/2012 à 15:08

Jill

Haha "Furniture" that's awesome :D

What a suprise to find such a note in that place. This kind of idea makes Pixpop's so different !

So welcome to Maxou's idea which is a good one ;)  !

Everyone should try to make his english level become better that way, cause i bet it's also as possible as leveling up our photography skill, cause of the pix's community  :).

Maxou

Hey guys !

I'm back from my big road trip : 4452 km on the road in south Australia ! Pretty exhausting… To continue on Flambidou's idea, it took me some time to understand what "low CA" means in lenses reviews. It stands for low chromatic aberation. I know, I jumped from A to C…

Renaud-P

Good idea Maxou.
For me, I went from London on December 2011 for a christmas' shopping :-w

Pratice English it's so good :)

Maxou

You guys don't seem like you have a lot to tell in english… I thought it was a good idea ! :) Anyway, I'll just keep on posting english terms, on Flambidou's idea, and I hope it'll bring more people in this topic.

DOF= Depth Of Field= Profondeur de Champ (PDC).

Arabesque

Anyone interested in speaking a little bit of English around here ? I'm stuck at home for the summer so I won't have a chance to practise… And it seems that a few of you are about to leave for English-speaking countries, lucky you !

I'll add a few terms to Maxou's glossary :
point and shoot camera : un compact
SOOC : straight out of the camera : means une photo "brute"
as opposed to postprocessed (PP)  PT

That's it ! let's hope we'll manage to bring this thread back to life  :)
